Luckily for us, there are a huge amount of free graphic design resources available online, you just need to know where to look.

From free images, illustrations and graphics to powerful design software and tools, there are so many resources out there for designers of all skill levels.

So without further ado, here is the ultimate list of free graphic design resources in 2024. Enjoy!

P.s We have personally tried and tested ALL of these resources ourselves, so rest assured that each of these free resources offers something valuable for your next design project!

FREE GRAPHIC DESIGN RESOURCES: IMAGES AND ILLUSTRATIONS

Unsplash

This is an absolutely enormous library of free, high quality images in a range of styles and themes. The best part about Unsplash is that all the images are 100% royalty free, which means you can use them in commercial work without payment or attribution.

Pexels

Pexels is very similar to Unsplash, offering millions of stunning royalty free images perfect for designers and creatives. However, this free graphic design resource also offers a huge collection of free videos as well!

Pixabay

This is yet another gigantic library of free images that are (mostly) available for unrestricted commercial use. Pixabay also offers videos, vector graphics, and illustrations, making it a treasure chest for us designers looking for diverse and high-quality visuals (without the price tag).

Picryl

Picryl is hands-down one of the most underrated graphic design resources out there. Imagine this as a time machine for designers who love history, art, and unique vintage visuals. You can find historical photos, classic art, scientific illustrations and diagrams, old maps, and so much more. Because the content is in the public domain, almost all of it is free to download royalty free.

Stocksnap.io

Finally, we have Stocksnap. This is another library of royalty free images that can be sorted by categories and popularity. New high-resolution photos are added to the Stocksnap library every week - all free to download and use in commercial or personal projects.

FREE GRAPHIC DESIGN RESOURCES: FREE TEXTURES

Wave Index

Here are the free textures currently available:

➡️ Trashy, grainy scanned textures and overlays

➡️ Retro textures (with some extra bonus assets)

➡️ Dust and scratches textures

➡️ Dark grunge textures

➡️ Watercolor splashes on paper overlays

➡️ Grainy gradient textures

➡️ Ink Bleed textures

Plus, many of the free texture samplers come bundled with free tutorials and other bonuses, so you can get the most out of your free downloads.

    TextureLabs

TextureLabs is definitely one of the best free graphic design resources out there in 2024. You can find everything from dusty particles and lens flare effects, all the way to organic elements such as wood, sky and stone. Plus, no attribution is required to use the textures in commercial work.

    ResourceBoy

ResourceBoy is a somewhat of a hidden gem when it comes to finding free, unique textures. The selection includes texture packs such as spider web textures, marble textures, firework textures and coffee stain textures. Some of the textures won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s definitely worth a browse if you’re looking for something a little more

FREE GRAPHIC DESIGN RESOURCES: FREE FONTS

    Google Fonts

This free font library is like a candy store for designers who are obsessed with typography. The best part about Google Fonts is that it's not just about the variety; it's about the quality and usability of the fonts too. These fonts are optimized for the web, which means they load quickly and look great on all sorts of devices and screen size resolutions.

    Dafont

If you’re looking for some more quirky, eccentric fonts, DaFont is definitely for you. Browse foreign-themes fonts (Japanese, Ancient Greek, Arabic, etc.), bold techno fonts, elegant cursive fonts and much, much more. It's perfect for when you want to add a unique touch to your work, and best of all, most of these gems are free for personal use (although please check before using a font in any commercial work).

    1001fonts

This is an incredibly underrated free resource featuring fonts in a range of styles and themes. The best part about this resource is you can specifically browse fonts that are 100% royalty free.

Simply click this “commercial free” button on the site to browse the commercial free collection.

    Fontspace

Fontspace is a community-driven library of fonts that range from sleek and professional to utterly bizarre. Most of the fonts can be downloaded for free for personal use, but check before using in any commercial projects.

    Behance Fonts

Behance is known for it’s beautiful portfolio showcases, but it also features a huge library of fonts. Many of the designers on Behance offer their fonts for free, allowing you to download directly from their project pages. Definitely worth checking out.

    FREE DESIGN SOFTWARE & TOOLS

    Adobe Express

Adobe Express is essentially the lighter, more user-friendly version of the full Adobe Creative Cloud suite. This free graphic design software has a seemingly endless amount of templates and quick actions, as well as access to a library of 20,000 licensed fonts.

On top of that, Adobe Express even has integrated AI features that really elevate the whole experience. You can even use the ground-breaking Generative Fill tool within Express, allowing you to insert or replace objects using only a text prompt.

Overall, if you're after a graphic design tool that's super easy to use, versatile, and won't cost you a penny, Adobe Express is definitely worth checking out.

    GIMP

This is one of those resources that will leave you thinking “how is this free?” GIMP the Swiss Army knife of image editing, boasting powerful features that surpass almost any other free software. It’s quite similar to Photoshop, and is perfect for creatives who need a robust set of design tools without the hefty price tag.

    Canva

Canva gets a bad wrap in the design wrap for being overly simplistic with somewhat limited features. But I’d say it’s a fantastic choice for beginners, especially those looking to create beautiful social media graphics and presentations. Canva offers a plethora of free templates with a user-friendly interface, making it perfect for graphic design beginners.

    Inkscape

This design resource is a 100% free and open source vector graphics editor, perfect for creating both artistic and technical illustrations.

It's packed with tools and features that you might expect to find only in expensive software, like object cloning, markers, alpha blending, and more. But here's the kicker: it's all wrapped up in an extremely intuitive, user-friendly package.

    FREE VIDEO RESOURCES FOR DESIGNERS

    Coverr

Coverr offers an absolutely insane library of high quality videos that are free to download. Features everything from outdoor fashion shoots, to virtual backgrounds, to stunning drone shots. No sign-up needed, no attribution required or hidden tricks anywhere. Highly recommend.

    Pexels Video

We mentioned Pexels earlier in this list for it’s incredible library of free images. They've actually got a video counterpart as well, and it's just as impressive. Whether you're looking for a modern cityscape drone shot or a tranquil beach scene, Pexels Video has got you covered.

    Mixkit

Mixkit offer a range of free videos, music and sound effects, but the highlight of this free resource is without a doubt the video templates for premiere pro and after effects!

    Capcut

We often get asked where to start when it comes to learning how to edit videos for free, and we always recommend getting started with Capcut. CapCut makes it super easy to edit videos with its intuitive interface and has a surprising amount of intermediate/advanced features. Plus, there is a mobile and desktop version available.
